Terms of Service

Last updated: February 2026

By accessing or using DoINeedAPermit.org ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

1. Service Description. DoINeedAPermit.org provides building permit research reports based on publicly available government sources, municipal codes, and local ordinances. Reports are generated by searching official building department websites and code databases for your specific project and jurisdiction.

2. Informational Purposes Only. The information provided by this Service is for research and informational purposes only. It does not constitute legal, engineering, or professional advice. Building codes, permit requirements, fees, and processes change frequently. You should always verify permit requirements directly with your local building department before beginning any construction project.

3. No Guarantee of Accuracy. While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information by referencing official government sources, we cannot guarantee the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of any report. Municipal codes and regulations may have changed since the report was generated. We are not responsible for any decisions made based on our reports.

4. Payment and Credits. Search credits are purchased through Stripe, our payment processor. Credits do not expire. All sales are final. If you receive a report that contains a significant factual error, contact us and we will investigate and may issue a credit at our discretion.

5. User Accounts. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account. You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account or purchasing credits.

6. Acceptable Use. You agree not to misuse the Service, including attempting to circumvent payment, scraping or automating access, or using reports for fraudulent purposes.

7. Limitation of Liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, DoINeedAPermit.org and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including but not limited to fines, penalties, or costs resulting from unpermitted work.

8. Changes to Terms. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
