Building permits, done for you

Answer a few questions. We do the permit paperwork.

Tell us your address and project. In about a minute you'll know whether you need a permit. Then, depending on your town, we file it on the city's portal for you, fill out the city's application with you, or hand you everything you need to file it yourself.

How it works

  1. Check your project

Pick your project, answer 3–5 questions, enter your address. You get the answer for your exact town, free.

  2. We fill it in

Your answers go straight onto the city's own application. No retyping, no hunting for the right form.

  3. We file it, or you send it

In 1,070 towns we submit it on the city's portal and handle the city's questions. Elsewhere you get it ready to send, with every step written out.

Why homeowners use us

  • Much cheaper than a permit expediter. Expediters typically charge a few hundred dollars and up for a home project (one California expediter lists simple jobs at $350–$800; national guides start at $500). We file for $125, and that includes up to $75 of the city's own fee.
  • It saves you the hours. No hunting for the right form, no portal account to set up, no retyping. Your quiz answers fill in the city's application, and we deal with the portal and the city's questions.
  • Safe by design. Nothing is filed until you review and sign it. Payments go through Stripe; we never see or store your card. We never sell your data. Applications go in through the city's own official portal.
  • Grounded in your town's own rules. Every answer is researched for your address and links your town's building department and code, so you can check it yourself.
  • Your money back if we can't submit it. And if the city asks for changes, we make them at no extra charge.

Expediter prices vary a lot by city and project; the ranges above are from published expediter price guides. Big or commercial projects can still need an expediter or architect.

What we promise, and what we don't

  • Nothing is submitted without you. You review and sign the application first.
  • Full refund if we can't submit it. If your application can't be filed, we tell you and refund you in full.
  • The city decides. No one can guarantee approval. We make the application complete and correct, and answer the city's questions, which is where most applications stall.
  • One price, shown upfront. If the city's filing fee is over the $75 we include, you see the difference and pay it by a link before we file (plus a small payment-handling fee shown on the page).
  • Changes are on us. If the city asks for changes to the application, we make them at no extra charge.

Questions

Do you actually file my permit with the city?

Yes, in 1,070 towns where the city takes applications on an online portal we've tested end to end. You review and sign; we submit it on the city's portal and email you at each step. In 361 more towns we fill out the application with you and you send it in. Everywhere else you get a Filing Kit with the forms, fees and steps.

Is it cheaper than a permit expediter?

Usually by a lot. Expediters typically charge a few hundred dollars and up for a home project. We file for $125, and that includes up to $75 of the city's own fee. Big or commercial projects can still need an expediter or architect.

Is it safe?

Nothing is filed until you review and sign it. Payments go through Stripe; we never see or store your card. We never sell your data. Applications go in through the city's own official portal, and you get a full refund if we can't submit it.

Is my town covered?

Run the free check with your address and project. If we file there, the next step after your answer is the filing. If not, you'll see the options your town has.

How long does it take?

The check takes about a minute. A Filing Kit arrives by email within minutes. When we file for you, we submit after you sign; how long the city takes to review depends on the town, and we email you when anything changes.

I'm a contractor. Can you file for my customers?

Yes: $99 a permit when you file 5 or more a month, in the same 1,070 towns. See contractor filing.
