These terms govern your use of DoINeedAPermit.org. By using this site, you agree to them.
Not legal or engineering advice
DoINeedAPermit is a research tool. Our content is compiled from public government databases, municipal codes, and ICC model codes (IRC/IBC). It is not legal advice, engineering advice, or a substitute for professional consultation with your local building department, a licensed contractor, or an attorney.
Final authority on any permit question rests with your local building department. Codes change; interpretations vary; we cannot guarantee that every piece of information is current for every jurisdiction at every moment.
The Filing Kit
The Filing Kit is a one-time digital product delivered by email. It includes the publicly available permit forms for your city and filing guidance based on public codes.
The kit is delivered within 60 seconds of purchase. If something is wrong — if the forms are out of date, the city has changed its process, or the kit otherwise fails to provide value — request a refund within 7 days of purchase by emailing us. No questions asked.
Accuracy and limitations
We work hard to keep our research accurate, but building codes change frequently. If you find an error, please let us know. We update content as we’re made aware of changes.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim related to this site or the Filing Kit is limited to the amount you paid us, which for most users is $14.99 or zero. We are not liable for fines, teardowns, construction delays, or any other consequences of your specific permit situation.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date.
